y=x+2
the 2 is the y intercept
is it is positive it is above, if negative then below the x axis
in order to graph a line only 2 points are needed. since we know the y intercept we will plug into the equation 1 value of x in order to find the second point.

y=1/2x+5/8
5/8 is the y intercept
the only thing we do is plug in a value f x in order to find a second point
when speaking of intercepts the values only lay on the number line such as (0,5/8) as above

!! when we are given two points but no graph we can easily find the slope and the equation. by using the slope formula

y= x2-x1/y2-y1 this will give us the slope.
because these are equations y= mx=b we will just plase the values of x and y of our coordinates (points) into this equation. ex.
slope 1/2 and points (2,4) then 4=1/2(2)+b once we solve for b which is the y intercept then we will have our equation and we would be a le to graph it.
